King Kev!
Top of the Pops may be dead, but King Kev lives forever. Enjoy!
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
I'm feeling a wee bit under the weather this morning, but a full slate of the footer should be just what the doctor ordered. Avram Grant has promised to stick five up front in order to emulate Ossie Ardiles's Spurs team of the 90s. With Fulham both scoring and leaking goal, it should be a real shoot-out. That's followed by ManYoo, still smarting from that League Cup exit, at St. Andrew's. And, of course, I'll have a keen eye on my Leeds boys, trying to make it eight out of eight today. Join me?
It's Carling Cup time again. I missed out on the action yesterday when the Arsenal kids topped an Owen-less Newcastle and Fernando Torres proved a point by notching a hat-trick. Today, we've got ManYoo hosting Coventry and real, potential banana skin as Chelsea travel to Hull. That plus a couple of all-Premiership matches adds up to an exciting afternoon of the "beautiful game." I'll be around for it - will you?
It's that time again and I'm looking forward to a cracking day of the footie. First up - Arsenal vs. lowly Derby, and I want a cricket score. The Gunners have been in spectacular form so far this season, so we should see some goals hitting the net.
Wow! I knew that the blood was bad between Roman and Jose but I didn't realize just how bad. Chelski have sacked "The Special One" this morning in the wake of their disappointing result against Rosenberg. Whoever replaces Mourinho will have to deal with those galactico-sized egos just as he did. Good luck to em.
Well, here's hoping that our British clubs fare better today than yesterday when Chelski eked out a poor 1-1 draw against Rosenberg in a half full Stamford Bridge, Celtic were tonked by Shaktar Donetsk and Liverpool could only manage a point away to Porto.
That's got to be the by-word for England fans today as the lads take on Russia in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier. My position is that McClaren should play the same team that did the biz on Saturday against Israel and hope for a similar result. A win today and you would have to fancy us to qualify.
That's the message from Football 365's Nick Miller, who reckons that England will eke out a victory this weekend against Israel and will go on to do just enough to qualify. As evidence, he points to every other qualifying campaign and asks, "when have England ever romped it?"
