Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Happy 7th Birthday, LOB!
Lakenheath Old Boys, the project that I started in 2006 as I was recovering from an appendectomy, is seven years old today. In the last year, we've had reunions in DC and Harlingen, Texas - and lots of chatter about the Beautiful Game. Thanks to all of you who have kept it going strong all these years later.

Premiership Plus Predictions Game - Week 35 Update
As we get down to the business end of the domestic footer season, it's high time to take a quick look at the PPP standings. The last week or so has led to a massive shake-up, the main variables being RVP's ascendancy to Golden Boot (with Suarez's season over), Chelski and Arsenal solidifying their CL slots ahead of Spurs, Wigan dropping into the dropzone instead of Villa and Bolton sneaking into the Championship play-off slots. There is still a lot of shaking out to do before we wrap things up on May 25th with the Championship playoff final and the Champions League Final, but it certainly looks as if it's down to an almighty battle between our two main ManYoo supporters on the LOB - MUR and UWS. Here are the current standings:
1. Man Utd Rules - 38 points
2. United We Stand - 37 pts
3. Matthew - 27 pts
4. Thomas - 25 pts
5. Blue Devil - 18 pts
- Simon Burke - 18 pts
7. Someone Said - 17 pts
- The Red Devil FCK1 - 17 pts
9. Gooner71 - 14 pts
10. Chelskilad - 12 pts
11. AZ Kicker - 10 pts
12. West Ham Rising - 7 pts
P.S. Just to clarify, I was prepared to assign 2 points for anyone who had picked either Swansea or Wigan for a Europa League slot, but no one had the foresight to do so. Thus, only point for 5th, 6th and 7th place have been assigned.

The Return of RVP
Robin Van Persie returns to the Emirates as a champion. How will the fans receive him? Will he be thanked for all the years of service? Will he be booed for leaving for a championship? Will he score?
Will United strive for more than ninety-five?
Chelsea and Swansea play today as well. Can the Swans repeat their League Cup semi final exploits against the Blues? Bottom of the table battle between two future Championship sides Reading and QPR are also on the docket.

Thank Goodness It's Saturday!
After an especially heavy workweek, I'm happy to be settling in for a morning of the Beautiful Game. First up is Manchester City v. West Ham on ESPN2. Then in the 10am matches, the focus is on the relegation battle with Stoke hosting Norwich and Wigan hosting Tottenham. In the late one, it's Newcastle against a bite-free Liverpool. Join me for the usual LOB business.

Champions League Semi Finals Live!
We star the semi-final process in the Champions League this afternoon and I couldn't be happier. Not only am I settling in after my morning class to watch it live from Blue Devil HQ but I've also managed to skive off a day-long assessment workshop. If you're skiving too, join me for the usual LOB madness.

The Battle for the Wenger Cup
There is a real Super Sunday on tap for us today. FSC shows the big double header back to back. We start in North London where Spurs are desperate for a win against reigning champs Citeh. If Spurs get the win and United win tomorrow..... NUMBER 20 is in the bag.
The second leg of the double header is from Anfield where Rafa comes back to Anfield with 'his' Chelsea side. He will probably be better received by the home fans than his own!
TWO HOME WINS PLEASE!

A Big Day in Two Competitions
A big day in the FA Cup as well as the Premier League. I wish United were playing at Wembley today but alas they have to visit the Britannia Stadium and take on Stoke. Sunderland visit their local rivals Newcastle in a vital bottom of the table clash. The dessert for the day is the FA Cup Semi Final that United should have been playing in!!

A New Era Begins...
These are exciting times at Elland Road this morning, as Brian McDermott leads out his new side for the first time as Leeds manager. "Win one for Baldy" has to be the motto. That one win - against Not a Big Club - this morning would virtually secure another season in the Championship for McDermott to work his magic on the club. Join me for this one and the other matches today.

Welcome Brian McDermott!
Leeds United fans everywhere are rejoicing at the news that Brian McDermott has been appointed our 38th manager on a three-year deal. He proved at Reading last season that he has the nous to be able to take an unfancied club up to the Premiership. And he knows how to rock a stylish hairstyle.
First job - to stop the free fall that has us now contemplating a relegation battle. We've had four losses on the trot. One win against Not a Big Club tomorrow morning will stop the rot and have us safe for another season in the Championship. Let's win one for Old Baldy!

A Big Day in the Wenger Cup
The race for that elusive fourth CL slot heats up this morning. CL wannabes Liverpool has just kicked off against the Hammers. At 9am, it's the big one. Spurs v. Everton - 3rd v. 6th. An hour later, 4th place Chelski kick off against Sunderland. And we round off the day with another relegation dogfight between QPR and Wigan. Join me for all of the table-shifting action.

The Relegation Battle Heats Up!
With a handful of matches left in the Premiership season, we really enter the relegation battle proper today. Half of the table could still conceivably be relegated this morning. Two of those teams - Reading and Southhampton kick off in a few minutes in the early kickoff. Then we get the regularly scheduled matches at 10am including Stoke v. Villa. And the day ends with two of the sides who would like to replace the likes of QPR and Wigan - table topping Cardiff against Watford. Join me for all the dogfight action.
